Spring Cleaning: Mayor Miller’s Community Cleanup Day
Join neighbours and friends for an hour or two to pick up litter around Fort York. Celebrate the arrival of Spring by helping to rid Toronto’s 41-acre birthplace of tin cans, plastic bottles and shopping bags blown in by the winter winds. Meet your fellow litter-pickers at the west gate, wear suitable clothing, and bring your own gloves. Garbage bags and coffee will be provided.
DATE: Saturday, April 19, 10 am – 1 pm
LOCATION: West gate, Fort York National Historic Site, enter off Fort York Blvd.
COST: Admission to Fort York is free for volunteers

Robert Malcomson, who has written widely about the War of 1812, describes in his new book, Capital In Flames, the attack on York by U.S. forces on 27 April 1813, the preceding events and the aftermath.
