Earlier in March, the Project: Under Gardiner launched #ReclaimTheName–a campaign calling for the public to help come up with the permanent name for this new kind of public space. The campaign began with a city-wide brainstorm that invites Torontonians to submit their suggested names online at www.undergardiner.com/name.html The deadline for submissions is 1 April 2016. Following that, a jury composed of some of Toronto’s most creative, engaged, and diverse citizens will review all the name submissions and whittle down the list. Between three and five of the top names will be put to a public vote in May and Torontonians will be asked to campaign for their favourite. Since our last update, the project team has been hard at work. We have now held a series of meetings with local stakeholders and community members to discuss the project and understand how it can be integrated into
surrounding plans. An early draft of the schematic design for the site is nearly complete and will be presented at an upcoming public meeting scheduled for 7 April 2016. Waterfront Toronto will be seeking feedback from the public on the design and programming for the site. PUBLIC MEETING Thursday, April 7th from 6:30 to 9:30pm Harbourfront Community Centre 627 Queens Quay W For more information about Project: Under Gardiner visit www.undergardiner.com
