Toronto’s latest public art treasure will be unveiled with Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone and the artist, Douglas Coupland (seen here with a maquette), in attendance. An engaging and surprising artwork, “Monument to the promiWar of 1812” marries the history of this nent site with Coupland’s own art practice. Germany, Born on a Canadian military base in he has frequently explored military subjects in his work. This work, commissioned as part of the Percent for Public Art Program initiated by Toronto’s City Planning division, will be a major attraction that honours Fort York and its role in the making of Canada.
