n Saturday, February 29, Fort York and the Ontario Black History Society hosted Exploring Our Culinary Roots, a half-day Historic Foodways program that celebrated O African-Canadian cuisine from the early 19th century to the present. The topic attracted a full house and included cooking demonstrations and samples from Chefs Warren Ford and Jamie Beeston. Mackenzie House Museum supported the program with their printing press. The event also included a film about 19th century anti-slavery activist and newspaper publisher Mary Ann Shadd Cary. The occasion at Fort York was part of the Black History Month programing of Toronto History Museums.
