SPECIAL EVENTS AT TORONTO’S FORT YORK NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE
‘THE FORT AT YORK’: Sept. Set at Fort York and using four of Toronto’s oldest buildings as its stage, The Fort at Yorkis the latest play from Crate Productions, Toronto’s Dora Award-nominated theatre company. Created by Crate’s artistic director and co-founder, Chris Reynolds, the play transports its audience back to the fort on the eve of the Battle of York in April, 1813, to recount stories that might have been told then as people waited for the Americans to day. attack the next Only 60 tickets are available for each performance, allowing the audience who arrive after nightfall to be divided into four smaller groups of 15 people each. Led off through the darkness by a guide, they witness successive performances in the gunpowder magazine, a barracks, a kitchen and alongside a firepit. Then, for the final dramatic scene, all the groups convene in a blockhouse.
